How to manage multiple athletes as a coach

When you go from one athlete to many, time becomes the key resource. Routines and tools so no one slips through the cracks.

Coaching three athletes can be done with spreadsheets and messages. With fifteen, attention is what suffers: it's easy for someone to go two weeks without anyone checking how they're doing.

A view of your whole roster

The first thing is being able to see at a glance how every athlete is doing: whether they trained, whether they did what was planned, whether they're heavily loaded. Opening each one's data separately doesn't scale.

Alerts instead of reviews

Define what worries you and let it alert you: very negative form, low compliance, days without data or a ramp rate that's too high. That way you spend your time on whoever needs it.

Routines

  • Monday: review the roster and the weekend.
  • Planning: a fixed slot to schedule the coming weeks.
  • Daily: reply to comments on the day's sessions.

Reuse

A workout library and the ability to copy weeks save hours. Building every session for every athlete from scratch isn't sustainable.

The Traincontrol roster summarises each athlete's last few days and highlights whoever needs attention, with thresholds each coach decides.
